NEW STUDENT EMAIL SYSTEM

AN OVERVIEW OF THE NEW KAPLAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT EMAIL SYSTEM

On February 22, 2010, the current student email system will get an upgrade. The new email system will provide you with additional functionality, features, and a friendlier look and feel. See a summary of the changes below:

What will not change:

1. Your Kaplan University email address and password
2. The way you access your email (directly from your KU Campus homepage)
3. Features and functionality such as:

• Mail features (compose, send/receive, delete, print, auto reply, auto forward, etc.)
• Folders (inbox, sent, draft, junk, trash, user-created folders and subfolders, etc.)
• Search for/in emails (regular and advanced search criteria, etc.)
• Address book/contacts (create, select, edit, delete, move, import, etc.)
• User-selected preferences (signatures, mail filters, time zone, fonts, colors, etc.)
• Help (with useful icon prompts, etc.)

4. Your ability to forward emails from the classroom to your student email account

What’s new:

1. Look and feel
• New, user-friendly icons and colors for email system features
• Reorganized dashboard for easy access to email features

2. Personal calendar
• Views: choose day, work week, week, or month
• Appointments: schedule, invite, and import/export from another calendar
• Reminders: set your choice of time intervals

3. Tasks
• Create and set status, percent complete, due date, etc.

4. Notes
• Create, save, and send notes.

5. Search beyond emails
• Look for contacts, appointments, tasks

6. Additional features and functionality
• Flagging: apply a flag to a single item
• Message priority: set a visual cue according to the priority of a message
• Conversations: arrange emails by conversation thread as well as chronologically
• Drag and drop: copy, drag, and drop emails into selected folders to organize

7. More preferences
• Message preview options, etc.

8. Expanded help section
• Online and searchable
• Context specific (for mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks)
