Frank Gatlin - Secretary
Hello everybody, my name is Frank Gatlin and I am the Secretary of Kaplan University's Chapter of ACM. I am 40 years old and live in Piedmont Alabama with my wife Suzanne (who is also a student of Kaplan University) and our youngest child. With all of the animals around our home, it is safe to say that we live on a farm. We have several horses, some for fun, and some for showing.
I graduated high school in 1986. I realize that is before some of you were even born, but this gives an idea of how varied our school and chapter are. Contrary to the myths of learning, I have found something from everyone, regardless of age, that I have benefited from. Learning in an online environment involves more than what one can take away, but also what one can leave behind to assist others.
Besides being a full time student, I am also a full time Professional Trucker. Many times I am away from home 2 - 3 weeks at a time. I use a broadband wireless connection while I am out on the road to complete my studies. Being a student at Kaplan has shown me that it is never too late to follow your dreams, and being a part of the KU ACM has challenged my thinking in positive ways. I believe our Chapter has the potential to assist every student within the IT field to reach new heights, and achieve greatness in our chosen fields. The articles and discussions contained in our classroom are excellent tools to help us understand many areas of IT. It is up to us, the members, to help maintain the integrity of our Chapter, and to achieve the goals we set out to do.
