Margaret Turner - Vice-President
Hi everybody, my name is Margaret Turner. I reside in Amarillo, TX with my husband John (we've been married for 30-years), our 4-dogs, 2-cats, and 2-ferrets. I am a full-time student right now but have worked, in the past, in the Insurance/Annuity business. I have always had a job within some type of customer industry. I don't have any real IT or computer experience except for what I have learned on my own. I have always been mainly a "user" of the computer.
I have been at Kaplan since January of 2007. I am going for my Bachelors in IT with my emphasis on Network Administration. This is the first time I have ever attended an online university and I really like it a lot. In fact, I now prefer this type of learning/training over the traditional type of schooling. I have always wanted to pursue my degree but I had put it off due to life happening, but last year decided it was time to pursue this venture at this point in my life. It has been the best decision I have made in a long time and I look forward to graduating in 2009. I may go on to get my Masters after this, but that is still up the air at this time.
I am proud to be a part of the Kaplan chapter of ACM and all that it represents. I think we can all make a difference and I believe this association will improve my future career endeavors, as well as enhance my educational goals. I think with everyone's help and encouragement we can take this chapter to lofty places. I foresee ACM being a great asset for all of us and its growth potential to really bloom. I encourage everyone that is part of this chapter to help make this it your own and help it mature into something we can all be proud of now and in the future. Welcome one and all!!
